Hello, we use the e1000e linux driver on a supermicro motherboard with
IPMI. It is necessary for us to use the CrcStripping=0 option to use
IPMI when the network interface is configured to permit IPMI access. If
we add an additional interface which uses the same driver IPMI access
disappears even when CrcStripping is disabled. I have downloaded the
latest driver from the Intel site but it still has the problem (ver
1.6.3-NAPI) . I think I understand the problem. The CrcStripping appears
to only get disabled for the first device in the scan. When an
additional card is added this becomes the first card in the scan and the
interface with the IPMI BMC connected ceases to have CrcStripping
disabled and therefore stops responding to IPMI.
I hope I have correctly diagnosed this problem.
b.t.w we use SLC5 linux which is a rebuild of RHEL5
