Subject: [E1000-devel] PROBLEM: Packets go out, but don't arrive when MAC
address has been changed

SUMMARY
Packets go out, but incoming packets don't arrive to the originating program
when mac address has been changed to something else than the original.

DETAILS
The incoming packets can be observed with `tcpdump -lni eth0`, but not with
`tcpdump -lni any`, nor do they increase INPUT packet count when observed with
`iptables -vL`. The problem goes away immediately when the original mac address
is set.

WORKAROUND
Don't change the MAC address from the original.
