Howdy,

On a thinkpad T540p (but I could swear I had this on my T530 too), if I
unplug the ethernet cable I was using, NM switches back to wireless and
all is good, except that my logs get heavily spammed with:

e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: Detected Hardware Unit Hang:
  TDH <0>
  TDT <4>
  next_to_use <4>
  next_to_clean <0>
buffer_info[next_to_clean]:
  time_stamp <10016edb7>
  next_to_watch <0>
  jiffies <100174da5>
  next_to_watch.status <0>
MAC Status <80080>
PHY Status <7949>
PHY 1000BASE-T Status <0>
PHY Extended Status <3000>
PCI Status <10>

I get one log entry every 2 seconds forever (or until I unload e1000e)

I have
00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Device 153a (rev 04)

Kernel: 3.12.7

Boot says:
e1000e: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Driver - 2.3.2-k
e1000e: Copyright(c) 1999 - 2013 Intel Corporation.
e1000e 0000:00:19.0: setting latency timer to 64
e1000e 0000:00:19.0: Interrupt Throttling Rate (ints/sec) set to dynamic
conservative mode
e1000e 0000:00:19.0: irq 48 for MSI/MSI-X

rmmod e1000e makes this go away, but the interface does not seem to work
after I do modprobe e1000e
(dhcp never completes, and tcpdump -n -i eth0 shown no inbound traffic)

At that point, fix seems to be a reboot.

Scratch that, going to S3 sleep and waking up seems to fix it too.

Last, but not least, before my last reboot when eth0 was wedged, I was seeing
this:
kernel: [231510.362713] e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: Error reading PHY register
kernel: [231511.162238] e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: Error reading PHY register

kernel: [231515.160201] e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: Error reading PHY register
kernel: [231515.959637] e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: Error reading PHY register
laptop-mode: Switched auto-negotiation to on for eth0
laptop-mode: Cannot advertise speed 1000
laptop-mode: Restored speed to 1000 Mbit for eth0

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Marc
