Hello, >From what I've tested and after reading a bit the driver code, it seems there is a limit to 16 RSS queues for a 82599 based network card with ixgbe driver. Specification of the controller is speaking of 128 available RSS queues in most places (if we omit table 7-1 which is mentioning that only 16 RSS queues in the supported queuing schemes).
So my question is: Is there only 16 RSS queues due to a hardware limit or would it be possible to have more RSS queues by hacking the driver ? I'm one of the developer of Suricata, an open-source IDS/IPS and we would really benefit from being able to have access to more RX queues.
