Dear Todd I think and you are right. I'm not expert about Linux!
I tried the drivers following lines before establishing contact with you download e1000e-3.1.0.2.tar.gz tar zxvf e1000e-3.1.0.2.tar.gz make make install " Kernel version older than 2.4.0 " error took countinously. I was search for way to solution . So I found it while searching. Do you suggest driver or method?
