I'm not familiar with that platform, but your symptoms look like some sort of problem with the bus. The "Adapter removed" message is a positive indication of a failure to access registers. I would look at your BIOS settings for some sort of compatibility settings. Since using a newer kernel seems to work well on the platform, there may be some setting that will help the platform to work better with an older kernel. Perhaps some power-saving feature or something is not understood by the old kernel and can be disabled. -- Mark Rustad, Networking Division, Intel Corporation
