Hi,

I would like to perform some simple Bit Error Rate testing on a PHY (I have a
i218 in my PC for example). In the most basic case I would like to be able to
send a known number of packets (of a fixed and preferably known size) in
Gigabit mode and record the number of packet errors (if any). So, does anyone
know of a tool that would allow me to do this ? If no such tool exists would
some of the 'Drivers and Utilities' on Sourceforge allow me to build such a
tool myself ? On the site I see a whole bunch of tools (Ethregs, e1000, igb,
ixgb, iqvlinux etc) but there doesn't seem to be any summary as to what each
driver/utility actually does. So, does anyone have any suggestions ? I don't
really care what platform (Windows/Linux) and I can program but I'd rather not
re-invent the wheel so if something like this already exists I'd like to know
about it.

Thanks,

Usjes.
