There's a README in our tarballs and you should just be able to do a "make
install". However, that parts should be in the Ubuntu kernel. You can open a
bug on sourceforge, but this might be a question for Canonical/Ubuntu.

Subject: [E1000-devel] How to install - Ubuntu 16.04

Hello

I have downloaded the e1000e drivers tar.gz. Where do I copy the files to
install.

I am trying to light up a 82566DN-2 on board adapter that Ubuntu can detect
lshe -C Network but ethtool sees no such devise so I have no wired networking
since fresh install.

Worked on the same hardware fine with 10.04 and 12.04.

Kind Regards
