Not everything in the hardware is enabled in the software. We do not appear to
be using the register you mention.

I have been told by those more familiar with PTP that the Time Sync registers
are in chapter 8.16 and are only accessible through the PF.

Subject: [E1000-devel] [igbvf] Accessing PTP clock from a Virtual Function

Hello,

I'd like to access the PTP timer of an i350T2V2 from a VF. The Datasheet (Rev.
2.6) states in section 7.8.2.12.2 that "VMs have access to the real time clock
register". But the only timer-related register which is mapped to a VF I could
find is the free-running timer (VTFRTIMER at 0x1048). So I'm kind of confused.

P.S. yes I know that there is ptp_kvm module, but it uses hypercalls which I'd
like to avoid.

Thanks a lot,

Bjarne
