This is for those who are working on the compatibility story, the subject
almost says it all.
Given that the two copies of org.eclipse.ui.workbench have diverged quite a
bit, I am not sure if any of the existing tools for merging and branching
(e.g. Git) would be of much help. One possibility would be to add comments
to any code changes in 3.x as to whether they have been merged into 4.x
yet.
