The best way to start would be to open a Bugzilla entry:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=e4
and attach code and description of design to it.
I believe this area was inactive for some time. There is Equinox security
plugin ("org.eclipse.equinox.security") which provides links between the
Eclipse-side concepts and JAAS. I'd imagine that we would utilize that
mechanism and add login modules integrating into OS and native
directories.
At any rate, be sure to add me to the CC list on the bug, I'll be most
interested to see where it goes.

Hi,
today I took a look at the Application Services proposed for E4. One of
this proposals is a Authentication Service. As I have seen, there is no
yet.
If have created a similiar service based on Eclipse RCP 3.x a few years
ago, so I'm interested at this topic. If it's possible, I can help to
develop this service.
How I can contributions to this projects? Are there former
specifications/discussions related to this topic?
