Despite an ongoing and incredible amount of excellent work by the Platform
UI committers, a concern for the community and the Eclipse PMC is still
the performance and bugs that remain in Platform UI, to the point where
improving this deserved its own item in our Mars plan [1]. Back in August,
Daniel, the new Platform UI co-lead, asked the community to participate in
our Mars development milestones [2] and to help us with the bugs that got
prioritized [3] by the Platform UI community [4]. So far, the response to
this hasn't been what we had hoped. While we do get a lot of contributions
for new features and small changes (thanks!), we'd like to ask the
community to focus, for now, on helping to improve the performance and the
quality during the Mars release. Please keep in mind that Platform UI is
used by millions of people but is only maintained by a small group of
committers!

It would be great if we could fix the top 50 bugs from that prioritized
list [3] together with your help! Of course, if you want to fix a bug
that's above 50, that would also be appreciated. Note that we will do the
M4 planning in tomorrow's Platform UI meeting [4] where everyone is
welcome to join.

Please do not reply to this note with a bug that you believe should have
been in the prioritized list - instead, either take the bug and provide a
patch, or add a comment to the bug that you'd like it to be
(re-)considered for the prioritized list.

Thanks in advance for all your help!
Dani on behalf of the Eclipse PMC
