We may name it eagle-usb-2.3/ to put all 2.3.x version, so that automatic
tools can fetch it (truncate latest number from VERSION), or maybe we
could introduce a link eagle-usb-LATEST/eagle-usb-LATEST.tar.bz2 ?
I've heard of automatic tools to fetch latest packages (for example to
rebuild rpm), but I took no time to see their implementations...

Fine.
I think you can apply corrections you identified yesterday (copy
eagle-usb.no-CMV.conf with driver/user/Makefile + EAGLEUSBVERSION's dirty
hack correction).
