I've got the same problem (since build #627, using the default L&F), as illustrated here:
http://www.geocities.com/julioms/index.html When you use a dark background for the editor, there's 2 different ways you can define the background color for the different elements on the editor: you can force their background to be the same color as the editor background, or make these elements use the default background (I tried both). These 2 different ways work fine in the editor (although with the "forced background" approach, you lose the method separators), the problem really is with the "find" window, since now we use the editor color scheme to show the find results. 1 - If you force the elements background in the editor, it will be hard to read the results, since the text we're looking for, is rendered in dark red, which doesn't work well on a dark background. 2 - If you don't force the background, and make it use the default background, it's even worse since IDEA renders the entire line using the editor color scheme over the Find window's white background, which makes it hard to read as well, since I use light foreground colors for the text (first image) I can also make the Find window use the editor color scheme, but then I'm back to #1: dark red over dark blue (second image). A potential solution would to be able to define all colors or none at all. Since we can define almost all, maybe we should be able to define the "variable" one. As a bonus, maybe the tree should use the colors from the scheme. Right now the +/- signs seem to be hardcoded black.
