I just copied a whole JSP to the clipboard and pasted it into a new file,
which I created from the project view. Then I hit the hotkey to do a rename
refactoring on a bean in the new copy of the file. I typed in the new name
and did the refactoring (preview was turned off), and the refactoring
happened in the old file that I copied from instead! I undid this, closed
that file, and tried again - with the same results...even though the file
was closed, the refactoring was applied to the old file, and not to the new
one. In the new file (that I initiated the refactoring in!), no changed
were made except for the appearance of spurious error highlighting on all
references to the not-renamed bean variable, which disappeared when I
changed the file.
