Whenever I compile (compile, run) under 637 the screen on my machine gets
heavily corrupted turning into a blue pinstriped mush; 636 and below seemed
free of this during compile but appeared whenever I used Hierarchy (which I
learnt to avoid) - can't see myself being able to avoid compile quite so
easily..

I suspect that Java2D may be culprit, at least I know the JDK Java2D demo
shows the same type of corruption whenever I fire it up, which would bring
it down to a Java2D/video card issue, yes my video drivers are up-to-date
(and I've been checking regularly for new drivers), worse yet they haven't
been updated for a year now - and it's doubtful they ever will.. This is a
on-board Intel GPU on Windows NT 4 - long in the tooth I know but I don't
see my company upgrading any time soon..

If I'm correct about the Java2D thing is it's use really necessary while
displaying just the simple "compiling.." dialog?? I've encountered Java2D -
video card support problems on many systems before I feel its best avoided
unless absolutely necessary; as things stand I couldn't use Idea 3.0 on any
of our machines - all have the same onboard graphics chip..

Thanks,

Richard
