Maybe we could assign something like a symbolic label to a source path which
defaults to the real path. This way the default does not change the current
behaviour and everybody is free to set it to whatever best identifies the
source path (e.g. the last part of the path or something completely
different that might be even better). This could also be an optional setting
for each source path so we don't need a default setting but just default to
not use the option.
