Hello David,

what's wrong with

- Shift-F6 (ensure, that "Preview usages ..." is unchecked; this state is 
remembered),
- enter the new name (or choose a suggestion from the combobox),
- hit <Enter>?

I could not imagine a better way. You even never need the mouse.
