When introducing a variable for
new ArrayList ()
IDEA generates
final ArrayList list = new ArrayList ();
while I want
final List list = new ArrayList ();
This idiom is common enough for IDEA to help us with it :
In the "introduce variable" dialog,
below the 'name' field,
simply add drop-down list, with
- the interfaces
- the super-classes
of the variable class.
The default type should (could : a new option) be the most super interface,
or the highest non-Object class
