thanks & possible, but there's no damage done if shift-esc works, too
("there is more than one way to do it :-). And I have the shift-esc
hard-wired in my head... it would save me one "modal thought"
that I would like to avoid: "which mode is the editor in and which
key is appropriate to the mode?".

PS: The only drawback would be one potentially "wasted" key
combination.
