If you're using Windows, you can try the attached External Tools--i think
they'll do what you want. You can select a directory/package to make all
files in that directory and its subdirectories read-only or writeable.

Note that selecting a file and running the external tool has the same
behavior as if you'd selected the file's parent directory and then run the
tool.
