I agree that IDEA shouldn't get bloated with lots of little features that only are of use to one or two people, but surely that's the whole point of this list - someone may have a feature request / idea that may or may not be of use to others, so we don't know whether it's an 'esoteric coding convention' (I did like that phrase, whoever used it) or not until others say 'yes we'd like that too' or 'no that's not something I'd want'. At the moment it seems that there are a lot of "+1 me too" messages, but no "-1 because of reason x, y, z" messages.
Perhaps someone would like to use IDEA to write a servlet or some such thing to provide a list of feature ideas that people on the list have suggested, and then each registered IDEA owner has, say, 10 'tokens' that they can add to different features to point out how much they'd like that feature / features. Then, if the feature goes in, they get the tokens back they assigned to it and can add them to another feature they'd like. I'm not saying that this should override what the IDEA team decide goes in / doesn't go into the product, as they've proved they know best in the end as IDEA is the most intuitive, useful package I've used for anything computer related, but it would give them an idea of what the customer base is most interested in without having to wade through huge lists of emails. Just my .02 (insert currency of choice here) :) Cheers, Kev.
