It is planned that we will get some sort of open API. Exactly what will be possible remains a bit of a mystery. However, I too am ravenously awaiting this feature set. All the other requests (aside from improved performance/stability) should take a back seat to an extendable IDE. A feature that would, if properly implemented, allow us to make an already amazing IDE as great as we want it to be.
