Hello. It would be
nice if it was possible to use the mouse to select multiple whole words. Idea
should use the same behavior that is standard in Notepad and
MSDev.
Let me elaborate by
comparing Notepad and Idea. Compare the difference in behavior between Idea and
Notepad on the lines marked A and B.
Idea:
mouse-down: move
caret
then
mouse-drag: extend selection by character
or then
mouse-up: (nothing)
then mouse-down: (nothing) <-- A
then mouse-drag: extend selection by
character <-- B
or then mouse-up: select word containing
caret
Notepad:
mouse-down: move
caret
then
mouse-drag: extend selection by character
or then
mouse-up: (nothing)
then mouse-down: select word containing caret <--
A
then mouse-drag: extend selection by
word <-- B
or then mouse-up:
(nothing)
This feature makes
it very easy to select a whole variable or method name using the mouse: you only
have to click somewhere in the name, not sweep it exactly from first character
to last character.
