+2 YEAH ! Excellent IDEA :o) I've already added my own filetypes for SQL, with all the keywords, but if it was provided out of the box, it would be great.! The same for CSS.
In any case, the ability to add custom file types with their OWN highlighting would be a great idea (instead of using the default custom highlighting). And why not using some little tools which would convert already made syntax files directly to IDEA ? In the far past, when I used to code using VI, I enjoyed using the syntaxes provided. We could transform them for our beloved IDE. I guess Emacs has also its own syntax format as well....
