Excellent point, although it wouldn't be terrible to allow switching between
the on-disk view and my view.  It'd be inconvenient, and (since I'd want the
cursor and current selection to not change) it'd take a little bit of work,
but it could still be useful...  Incidentally, this is the reason I don't
like having this done by the source-control system - I couldn't remember the
reason until your post.  :)

I'm certain I don't have the perfect implementation for this in mind - there
are clearly many problems.  But is there a set of features that could be
added to Idea (post-3.0) that would help to solve this problem in an
implementable and usable way?  If we could come up with one, and if enough
people liked it, I'm certain the JB folks could add it at some point...
