+1 on the string handling but I would add the reverse handling on join lines:
 
"This is a multi|line"
Return would produce
"This is a multi"
+ "line"
 
On join line
"This is a multi"|
+ "line"
would automatically remove the unnecessary " + " to get back to the original string, same as the joining comment lines:
"This is a multi|line"
 
In addition I would like to request another time the auto word wrap on the right margin. That could handle the multi-line string automatically.
