Title: Performance when editing large files

I am using the Pandora Build 504 on WinNT 4.0 with 512MB of RAM and a 667MHz Pentium III processor.  Generally performance is pretty good and memory usage is not that bad (~100MB).  However, the one of the projects I work on has a few very large files (~10000 lines of code).  When editing one of these files, the performance suffers greatly.  The editor is often very slow to respond.  Memory usage slowly creeps up until the garbage collector runs, then it starts increasing again, even if I'm not doing anything.

I realize that a file this large is unusual, and we are trying to refactor them to make them smaller.  In the meantime, though, Idea is giving us some significant performance problems.  Is there anything to be done to increase performance?  I have already turned off the error highlighting and some of the other features.  That helped a bit, but not enough.
