I do this all the time.  Put the cursor on the name of the method (or field)
you are creating JavaDoc for and hit CTRL-Q.  That lets you see it
immediately.

    I agree that I would like to see how my javadoc looks in html
    prior to generating it.  However, I would not want to have this
    weird case where it looks like html until I click to edit it.
    Perhaps if I could hover the mouse over it, and a tooltip would
    appear after a couple of seconds that shows the html?
