Same here. It got so bad around build 512/513 that I disabled file synchronization altogether. However, I had renabled it in 514, and it seems very very fast. Now I find out that it actually just claims to be on, and isn't on at all! If I manually synchronize via the file menu, it still takes a REALLY long time (a minute or so). This a local filesystem (on osx), so it's not network time synchronization issues.
