If you place the caret on the inside of a brace, ctrl-[ and ctrl], will bring you to
the top
and bottom brace respectively (this makes sense). If however, you are in the cursor
position immedately outside a block, such that the high-lighting is showing you the
matching brace, ctrl-] or ctrl-] should take you to the highlighted pair, not the
outer
pair.
For example:
{
Some text:
G
A{B
D}C
F
}
The problem is when the caret is in position A, or C. That is imediately outside a
block. When the caret is at A, and ctrl-] is selected, it navigates to the bottom
brace
in the external block, instead of the bottom brace in the internal block. The same is
true if the caret is on position C as well.
This is counter intuitive because IDEA is showing the matching brace for the inner
block, yet the ctrl-[] navigation takes us to the outer block.
The correct behavior should be that if highlighting of a brace is active, the ctrl-[]
navigation should go to the matching brace indicated by the highlighting. The rules
for navigation and highlighting should be the same.

MIke
