Is there any way to select text like one does in emacs: type Ctrl-Space and
then move the cursor around using normal editor movement keys? This has the
effect of sweeping out text between the place where I originally typed
Ctrl-Space and where the cursor currently is. Any non-movement command
stops the selection and acts upon the selected text (if appropriate).

I noticed there are commands to move with a selection, but these require
separate keybindings. I'd like these to be integrated with the regular move
commands and activated via Ctrl-Space.

Thanks,
-jt
