IDEA offers a lot of freedom (e.g. the freedom of a method-name, because I can change it later). I trust IDEA. It would be fatal, if an inner voice tells me not to use these cool refactoring features, because they may introduce bugs. Bugs, that IDEA could avoid with a little effort from IntelliJ.
I hope, IDEA will get a safe rename in the *very* near future. It's my highest feature request.
