I have not changed explicitely the font size because everything is
small, not only fonts, thus I had to change the DPI. However, I have
just tried your solution and it doesn't change anything. Text in IDEA is
still as small as before, only the window title bar is bigger ...

I'm surprised no other person have this issue as it seems very common
for laptop users. All the new laptops have big screens and the only
resolution that is not blurred is a big resolution (like 1600x1200) but
then fonts are small so you have to increase the DPI ... but then IDEA
(and other java applications I guess - I have only tried another one -
jedit - which behaves the same) is not usable ... :(
