Hello! +1 I think the handling as it is implemented now, is very complicated. I don't have a WEB-INF either. My Ant build collects all the needed files from various locations. I also think that there should be an external resources mapping with project scope, so that one could pack the whole project with the external resources and unpack it to another installation. URIs that lead to resources below the project directory should be saved relative.
