In some cases, IDEA can open it's normal (not maximized) windows, out of the screen.
This happened to us when we used a virtual desktop tool (Enable), on windows XP, and placed IDEA in the second screen. When we removed the virtual screen, and rebooted, we could only see IDEA when maximized.
