IMO, this is a check that _should_ be done by the coder. I don't ever want
to get in the habit of just deleting. I want to know why it was there in
the first place.

If adopting more colors, then also add "assigned, never accessed field".
This is different as well, and would cause compilation errors if just
deleted.
Again, IMO leaving only one color is best. This forces the coder to
_think_ about what they are deleting, rather than mindlessly deleting
based on a knee-jerk reaction. ("Oh no, YELLOW, get rid of it!")
It is the same for error highlighting. You have to _think_ about how to
resolve the issue. Do you want different error highlighting for code?
Surely not...
