To me, there was absolutely no need to change them (except for maybe the project and IDE properties icons), and the change has been to the worse, unfortunately. Whether my monitor is bad (it isnt), or I need glasses (I dont) should not be the issue - the old icons were easier to discern, as they had distinct border lines. The back/forward icons are especially fuzzy (excuse my terminology if it is unclear), and the search icon looks like a soup spoon (if anything) to me. what screen resolution/color depth are you using? so much for this.
