In Linux there are directories and files which are typically hidden that start with a . like .bash_profile or .xmms or .mozilla. These are all settings files and directories and they show up in the file chooser lists and it's really annoying because anyone using linux a lot, has a lot of those files and they always appear first in the list, and you sometimes have to scroll down quite a bit to get to the directory you're looking for.
I had suggested filtering them out or changing the sort so that they show up at the end, but I think the second one is harder and probably a waste of time since I don't see how anyone would need to set anything in those directories.
