Title: Learning JavaScript
Apart from myriad web sites, I found the book "_javascript_ for the World Wide Web" by Negrino and Smith to be useful.  Since I travel a lot web-based training wasn't enough for me.

This book is low-cost (typically < $20) available in most college book stores - often second hand.  It is comprehensive and follows Peachpit Press' excellent Visual QuickStart format (www.peachpit.com) .  It has a good web site and all the code samples are downloadable.

Also highly recommended as are the XML and HTML books in the same series (those two are written by Elizabeth Castro).
