true, there is some JS -  for validation before the input is sent to the RPG, to show the returned error message(s),  making the web page to look/act the same on different browsers, etc, etc.
But Mel is right, keeping it as simple as possible is a good practice, not all RPG programmers could get around _javascript_, should the program be changed later on by someone else.....

Ajax??? That will be great for maintenance programs, add 'in-place edit' and we'll have a full featured 5250 web terminal :)  In my opinion (from what i've seen so far), CGIDEV can not be beat ... i've struggled with WebFacing and HATS and i gave up before ending in a kookoo house!

I think we're going to see a lot less of that Mel - particularly with the rising popularity of Ajax.
