Friendly reminder: Next (and first) EasyBuild conference call is planned for tomorrow, Tuesday Nov 5th 2013, 3pm - 3.30pm CET.
Main topics w.r.t. progress and ongoing work: * (short) progress on support for new easyconfig format (Kenneth) * progress report on adding support for UNITE and the individual performance tools that are part of it (Bernd) That should probably only take a couple of minutes (especially the first topic). After that, we can keep it open for questions, with a strong preference towards general questions (i.e. not problems on a particular OS for a particular software package, etc.). The idea is to keep the conf calls broad and general, specific issues/questions should be dealt with in another way (e.g. mail, issues on GitHub or a separate (short) conf call). As an alternative, we can explicitly close the general part of the bi-weekly conf call at some point, and open the floor for specific questions (and then anyone who has time can stay around to listen/pitch in). Suggestions for other (broad) topics are welcome, I'll add them to the conf call description and wiki page (https://github.com/hpcugent/easybuild/wiki/Conference-calls). regards, Kenneth On 29 Oct 2013, at 17:51, Kenneth Hoste wrote: > Hello, > > During the EasyBuild hackathon last week we got some input w.r.t. planing > EasyBuild conference calls (which are long overdue). > > After figuring out a time slot that works out well for most people (Tuesdays, > 3pm CET), and looking into a good tool/service for hosting the conference > calls, we now have it all worked out and planned. > See the EasyBuild wiki page on conference calls [1] for all the details. > > In short: > > * we are going to use the Google Hangouts service, since it's 100% (as in > beer) for everybody (and we feel it's pretty OK after fooling around with it > in the office today) > * the duration will be fixed (hard) to half an hour maximum, to keep the > discussion focused and to allow people to plan this in > * the first conference call is planned for next Tuesday, Nov. 5th 2013, 3pm > CET > > To make it easy for people to join in, and to problems with so-called trolls > during the conference calls, we are going to restrict the conf calls to > members of the EasyBuild community on Google+ [2] for now. > > If you have any remarks or suggestions, do let us know! > We may plan in additional slots which are more convenient for US West Coast > and New Zealand too. > > In any case, we'll evaluate things after the first EasyBuild conference call. > > > regards, > > Kenneth > > > [1] https://github.com/hpcugent/easybuild/wiki/Conference-calls > [1] https://plus.google.com/communities/103632287931200436158
