If the hardware is recent, you'll need to use a more recent version of
OpenBLAS, since it won't be aware of your processor architecture yet.
So, if you want/need a combination of an ancient compiler like GCC 4.4
and a newer OpenBLAS, you're definitely looking at a new/own version of
a particular toolchain.

I think the best thing you can do in your case is probably to have
your own version of the gmpolf toolchain, with gcc 4.4.7.
