Dear EasyBuilders,
I'm happy to announce the release of EasyBuild v2.2.0 [1], the best
version of EasyBuild so far (you have to believe me!).
By annual tradition, the release came together just before my summer
holidays...
This release is characterized by various (major) contributions from
community members outside of HPC-UGent.
Highlights for this release:
* support for using GC3Pie as a backend for --job [2]
* contributed by Riccardo Murri (S3IT)
* support for extending/modifying EasyBuild by including additional
Python modules via --include-* [3]
* support for creating packages for software installations using FPM,
via --package [4]
* contributed by Robert Schmidt (OHRI), and Gianluca Santarossa and
Marc Litherland (Novartis)
* new toolchain definition: GNU (GCC+binutils)
* support for --read-only-installdir and --group-writable-installdir
configuration options
* fixed bugs w.r.t. using multiple toolchains in a single EasyBuild session
* support for generating modules for system compilers, using the
SystemCompiler easyblock [5]
* contributed by Bernd Mohr and Markus Geimer (JSC)
* support for building and installing 62 new software packages and 4
software bundles
* including Bioconductor (bundle) FPM, GC3Pie, JUBE, NEMO, Ruby and
RubyGems, ...

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release in one way or another!
To upgrade to EasyBuild v2.2.0, there are several options:
(i) (re)bootstrap EasyBuild to obtain an EasyBuild/2.2.0 module to
load [7]
(ii) install EasyBuild v2.2.0 with a previous version of EasyBuild,
using the easyconfig file available in [8]
(iii) install EasyBuild v2.2.0 from PyPI, using one of the standard
Python installation tools (easy_install, pip, ...) [9]
(iv) update your Git working copies of the different EasyBuild
repositories
