Hola Oscar,

installing scientific software as root is a non recommended practice that's
why easybuild triggers an error and asks you not to do it. For testing you
can use your standard account. What many easybuild users do once they use
easybuild in production is having a dedicated user account in the cluster
which is used to manage the easybuild installations.

The error about "Name or service not known" coming from the urllib2 library
I guess it's a problem with your dns. The bootstrap script will try to
connect to the internet and download all the required software to install
easybuild. I guess the machine where you are executing easybuild cannot
resolve some of the domains where the bootstrap script is trying to connect
to. I would review your dns and network configuration.

saludos,
Pablo.
