That calls for a closer examination of your `env` state on each case. You might like to invent your own little patch to ensure you capture that information; I’ve seen things failing in the past in such ways with “benign” vars like LC*/LANG, DISPLAY, JAVA* etc (my favourite is the LANG vars being passed upstream via your ssh session and make things success/fail) F. -- echo "sysadmin know better bash than english" | sed s/min/mins/ \ | sed 's/better bash/bash better/' # signal detected in a CERN forum
