Let me know if you need more information. The same thing happened to me, but with intel/2015a: icc and ifort installing without problems and impi failing with same error you mention. After a few tries I went back to install impi with its own installer, and although there you explicitly specify the license file, it failed with "The license file(s) you provided is not valid for this product." This is strange as the full Intel Parallel Studio XE Cluster Edition, impi included, installed without problems. Only the isolated impi installation failed. This was using an academic license.
