I'm with Foitis... THANKS!!!! This is much more fun than trying to figure out how we are going to deploy Slurm on our new cluster (which was my other task for the week/weekend).

Bug 1 (which I probably won't submit)....freeglut-3.0.0-intel-2016b.eb needs libGLU. (GLU split from Mesa)

Still working through all the stuff I can build with the new X11 module (who will probably play with EMAN and /GRASS this weekend).

I _LIKE_ it.

POV-Ray went on like a dream!!! Love that. Not that we have users asking for it or SimVascular or OpenImageIO at the moment, but the new cluster (terra[*]) is GPU rich so could see all that being useful if I wanted to rebuild against NVIDIA OpenGL.

Well done!

Btw.: Nice to thing to get the release on a Friday, because you need 2-3 days to get all these builds delivered! ;)

Subject: [easybuild] [ANN] EasyBuild v2.9.0

Dear EasyBuilders,

I'm happy to announce the release of EasyBuild version 2.9.0 [1].
Using deep learning we have discovered that this is the best EasyBuild
release so far!

Highlights for this release include:

- support for hiding toolchain modules
- enhanced GitHub integration (various improvements to --new-pr/--update-pr)
- support for using ccache (and f90cache) to speed up (re)compilations
- support for installing a module for the latest EasyBuild release via
'eb --install-latest-eb-release'
- support for --list-software and --list-installed-software (see also
the nice overview of supported software [2])
- significant speedup for parsing of easyconfigs

- 6 new software-specific easyblocks (cppcheck, HEALPix, IMOD,
IronPython, Mono, MyMediaLite)
- support for installing X11 stack as a single bundle
- new toolchain versions: CrayGNU + CrayIntel 2016.06, foss 2016.07 +
2016.09, iomkl 2016.07, pomkl 2016.09
- support for 88 new software packages, incl. Blender & POV-Ray
- easyconfigs for GCC 6.2.0, IPython 5.1.0, OpenFOAM 4.0, OpenMPI 2.0.1,
ParaView 5.1.2, VTK 7.0.0, ...

This brings the total number of supported software packages to 1,085!

In addition, several bug fixes are included, among which:

* fixed various compatibility issues with --module-only
* honor --filter-deps with --minimal-toolchains and when creating
toolchain cache
* making sure provided Tcl/Tk deps are picked up for R
* missing dependencies for various easyconfigs

A detailed overview of all changes is available in the release notes [3].

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release in one way or another!

To upgrade to EasyBuild v2.9.0, there are several options, see [4].
An easyconfig file for EasyBuild v2.9.0 is available in PR #3603 [5], so
one easy way to install EasyBuild v2.9.0 is to run:

     eb --from-pr 3603

Note that this will be the last major EasyBuild v2.x release...
The next release will be EasyBuild v3.0.0 which will include a number of
backwards-incompatible changes, among which deprecating several
old/inactive toolchains, cfr.
https://github.com/hpcugent/easybuild/wiki/Deprecated-toolchains .

Furthermore, I'd like to point out some enhancements to the EasyBuild
documentation, i.e. various pages that are automatically updated for
each EasyBuild release:
http://easybuild.readthedocs.io/en/latest/version-specific/ .

Enjoy!

regards,
