Thanks for mentioning easy_update. I am in the process of adding
easy_update to easybuild_framework. The tool will be located in
easybuild/scripts. I am actively adding features and fixing bugs so please
open issues as needed.

At the Fred Hutch we actively maintain R and Python with easybuild. Our R
and Python easyconfigs have 511 and 272 packages respectively.
Easy_update has become a necessity to maintain large packages.
