Dear EasyBuilders,
I'm pleased to announce the release of EasyBuild version 3.3.0 [1].
This release has a higher version number than the previous release (the
best EasyBuild release at the time), which indicates it's even better!
Hard to believe, I know, but just keep reading...
Highlights include:
* support for SHA256 checksums
* the intention is to make this the preferred checksum type in
the (near) future
* also includes auto-detection of MD5 vs SHA256 checksums +
support for --enforce-checksums to make presence of checksums a hard
requirement
* more information at
http://easybuild.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Writing_easyconfig_files.html#checksums
* also copy patches to install dir & easyconfigs archive
* support for renaming sources on download
* more information at
http://easybuild.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Writing_easyconfig_files.html#alternative-formats-for-sources
* support for --detect-loaded-modules
* more information at
http://easybuild.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Detecting_loaded_modules.html
* fixed GNU_SOURCE template, which should help resolve download
issues for sources of GCC & other GNU software
* new custom easyblocks for MXNet & Tkinter
* support for 28 new software packages, incl. BUSCO, MXNet & Tkinter
* updated easyconfigs for ABINIT 8.2.2, BLAST+ 2.6.0, Bowtie2
2.3.2, FFmpeg 3.3.1, NCL 6.4.0, Rust 1.18.0, SAMtools 1.5, VTK 7.1.1, etc.
* ensure that all included easyconfigs pass style check (eb
--check-style)
* as already mentioned, automatic style checking of easyconfig
pull requests is now enabled
This brings the total number of supported software packages to 1,256 [2]!
A detailed overview of all changes is available in the release notes [3].
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release in one way or another!
To upgrade to EasyBuild v3.3.0, there are several options, see [4].
Two particularly easy options include:
* eb --install-latest-eb-release # requires EasyBuild v2.9.0 or
more recent
* eb --from-pr 4781 # use easyconfig from PR #4781 [5]
Enjoy!
regards,
Kenneth (a.k.a. boegel)
